Tummyache, Heavy Heavy Hands, Degage & Slunk - 'Bat Split Crazy' Split Album
+ Limited to just 200 copies, pressed on pink vinyl.
Independent collective Creative Friends Records releases its first split record/album featuring punk bands Slunk, Dégage, Heavy Heavy Hands and Tummyache.
Recorded across 4 days at Middle Farm Studios with producer extraordinaire Peter Miles at the helm, the record conveys a punk mentality and serves as a reminder to surrender to the process. Creative Friends was set up by Peter Miles to facilitate the creation of the many songs and albums that were born out of process based music making.
Bat Split Crazy is the first physical release on the label following online releases of Creative Friends veterans Heavy Heavy Hands. The release is supported by a mini tour in September including dates in Exeter, London, Bristol and concludes with this show at The Junction, Plymouth.
Heavy Heavy Hands are a 4 piece punk band from Plymouth. They’ve released a handful of recordings over the last five years, each less considered than the previous in an attempt to embrace a non-perfectionist attitude to creativity, striving to remain raw and uncontrived in their songs and live performances.
Slunk is a collaborative project headed up by Josh Bannister. A celebration of the process of creating, a place to experiment sonically, with ample space for growth. Energy and feeling over everything. Simple in its instrumental build, always live, always in its moment, pieced together lyrically as it goes, laid out and left in the room. A movement away from what is current, heavily steeped in its own past, Slunk is banking towards all that Josh could never land on before, finding a new path through past and constant inspirations with a tool sharpened by fresh influence, steadily guided by all involved.
Tummyache is an alternative rock project created by songwriter/producer Soren Bryce. Tummyache represents a further maturation of an artist defiantly maneuvering the dark depths of adulthood. The latest album 'soak' is an honest and aggressive self-dive into a myriad of intra/interpersonal issues; as well as a reflection of the human condition through the lens of absurdism. Tummyache harnesses the restless spirit of the initial 1980s indie surge, through the bluster and beauty of ‘90s alternative, and plants a flag firmly in the present-day D.I.Y landscape.
Dégage is an unhinged femme punk band that will make you wish you were never born. Made up of Kat Marsh, Elio Evangelou, Grace Lightman and Zoe Leonard, Degage are a south west super group of session musicians, solo artists and producers making good music go bad. tummyache is An Alternative Rock Project created by songwriter/producer Soren Bryce.
The project is named after one of the side effects of severe physical anxiety. Tummyache manifested from Bryce’s need to explore a new set of emotions she experienced while living in Brooklyn, New York. the debut EP “HUMPDAY” was an honest and aggressive self-dive into a myriad of intra/interpersonal issues; as well as a reflection of the human condition through the lens of absurdism.
tummyache's newest unreleased album was crafted in the shed of her parent's backyard at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The first single "DIY!!" uncovers impolite truths with harsh guitars and intentionally trivial lyrics. It is a tongue-in-cheek review of the local American DIY scenes she found herself in over the past several years. To follow up the inaugural single ‘D.I.Y’, she released a new single and video for the title track from her upcoming album entitled "Soak", on October 8th. Tummyache harnesses the restless spirit of the initial 1980s indie surge, through the bluster and beauty of ‘90s alternative, and plants a flag firmly in the present-day D.I.Y landscape.
