Drift Monday Digest: 3rd May 2021

Interesting Sunday reads and distractions, but on a Monday.

Hello, Friends.

For three-quarters of their lifetime, Hex Enduction Records & Books of Lake City, Seattle have been making the best they can of a backdrop of a global pandemic. Opening to great fanfare in November 2019, they’ve already brought a healthy dose of weirdness to the suburbs.

In the latest edition of Deluxe, we spoke to Dean Whitmore about setting up and fitting in.

Drift is Open

It was really nice to see you on Saturday when we opened the shop door again for the first time in ages. It's going to be a slow road back to doing all of the things that we used to, but we're now operating limited browsing hours and it's great to feel like a shop again.

We're open as follows;

Tuesday - 11am - 3pm
Wednesday - 11am - 3pm
Thursday - 11am - 3pm
Friday - 11am - 3pm
Saturday - 10am - 3pm

Innov Gnawa

We wrote last week about Innov Gnawa's excellent Lila LP via Daptone. As part of the release, the NYC-based group of Moroccan expats have recorded a live session, with hypnotic and healing grooves. It's so cool to see the process between the players and the traditional, ceremonial aspect of what they do.

"Experience the freedom, liberation, and the power of healing through music. You’re are not alive if this music doesn’t move you." - Daptone
