Drift Sunday Digest: Charlie Megira, Leo on the radio and Ringo's drum...

The trademark logo is modeled after kick drum head #6, pained by Eddie Stokes.

Hello, Friends.

You know who we didn't know about? Israeli singer, songwriter and musician Charlie Megira. As we've now mentioned a few times, Numero are reissuing his Da Abtomatic Meisterzinger Mambo Chic album, a heady amalgam of ’50s trash rock, surf-y tremolo, and reverb-drenched goth. We've been listening quite a lot today and reading about him, he was a fascinating guy.

We've highlighted a few reads.

+ PopMatters | "The Confounding Case of Charlie Megira" [Read More]

Leo

Our Leo's monthly show on 1020 Radio was broadcast this week. Listen again links below for an hour of vibes, including; INHMOST, claire rousay & More Eaze, Leo Cunningham, Joel Vandroogenbroeck, David Troop, Akio Suzuki, Laurence English and more.

He also posts the mixes without his introductions, but tbh, we LOVE the introductions.

Ringo's Drum

Still high on the fumes of Get Back, we are very much à la mode with The Beatles at the moment. Luckily, Eddie Robson's twitter thread about the famous 'drop T' logo popped up and we got totally caught up in his drum skin research. Some really nice design notes and he poses some cool questions about bands, logos and icons that start their own little threads.

Drift

Alongside the weekly playlist of new and old tracks, all of the Drift staff also contribute to a weekly 'Drift Recommends' playlist. With renewed 2022 zeal, we'll be updating it every Friday with new tracks that we love, absolute bangers that have popped back into our heads and all sorts of other weird avenues. It is supposed to sound a little bit like that feeling of walking through the door at Drift.

You can subscribe to it via our Spotify public profile, here.

Have a great rest-of-weekend.
