Records of the Week: Alex Maas, Com Truise, Arctic Monkeys, Richard Norris and Tom Sanders.

A chilly howdy from Drift, with new releases to warm your stereo.

Hello, Friends.

Our first Record of the Week for December is Luca, the solo debut LP from Alex Maas of The Black Angels. Such a great set this, his voice is unmistakable and the soul-baring tracks are warmly produced and super engaging. Gently paced, it really does cast a lush vibe.

Arctic Monkeys release a Live At The Royal Albert Hall this week, an absolutely epic live album from Sheffield's finest, with all proceeds going to War Child.

+ Available on very limited double clear vinyl if you're quick.

Richard Norris started the Music For Healing series in lockdown, releasing one calming, anxiety relieving track each week for three months. Available on a VERY limited CD edition (including an augmented reality 3D sleeve)Music For Healing is very special indeed, spiritual music.

Deafheaven would have been on the road this year, celebrating ten years of pure brutal energy. That didn't happen, so they instead recorded 10 Years Gone, a live set from Atomic Garden that would have formed those shows. Man alive, it's pure SMASH.

+ Available on limited green and yellow swirl vinyl.

Deafheaven 10 Years Gone

Much like its predecessor, In Decay, the 2014 compilation of unreleased, early Com Truise recordings, In Decay, Too unlocks a new set of rarities and unheard fragments from the past for the producer’s legion of fans.

+ Available on Synthetic Storm Coloured vinyl.

May Our Chambers Be Full is thrilling, a collaboration between singer-songwriter Emma Ruth Rundle and doom metal band Thou. They fit around one-another amazingly, its like light and dark.

London-based songwriter and frontman of much-loved UK band Teleman, Tom Sanders, releases his debut album Only Magic. Such a lush set this, a great pace and it's really nice to here it all so stripped back.

+ Limited Indie shop version LP is pressed on 'Tropical Pearl' coloured vinyl.

Nick Cave has teamed up with Belgian composer Nicholas Lens to release L.I.T.A.N.I.E.S, his self described “lockdown opera”. At Lens’s request, Cave penned 12 litanies – “petitions to a divine maker” – simple, moving texts. CD and double LP sounding super impressive on Deutsche Grammophon.

Lee Fields & The Expressions release Big Crown Vaults Vol. 1, unreleased recordings from the Special Night & It Rains Love sessions. He sounds like pure fire.

+ Indie LP is Lavender Swirl Opaque vinyl.

Crazy Hearts is the nineteenth studio album of noise, riffs and 'outsider pop' from the iconic Half Japanese

+ Limited Edition LP is Transparent Purple vinyl.

Burrows is the debut LP from Leeds trio Caro. They'll be playing (online) instore for us next Monday.

Spread across 4 beautiful LPs (and including a 52-page booklet), Homecoming is Beyoncé's unforgettable headline show at Coachella 2018.

Weird! is the second LP from Doncaster's Yungblud. Co-produced with longtime collaborators Chris Greatti (Poppy, Grimes) and Zakk Cervini (Bishop Briggs, Machine Gun Kelly). Standard LP is White vinyl. Indie Edition is Black vinyl with alternative Night Time cover.
