Drift Records of the Week arriving a day later than normal, but you'll soon see why... This is surely the fullest ever New Release week that we've known. Dozens of fantastic new releases, all bases covered and maximum excitement.
Picking any of a dozen for our Record of the Week was a ridiculous challenge, so we just went with our hearts and picked an album that we've been loving for a quite a while now. Room For The Moon by Moscow-based artist Kate NV was our fiftieth Dinked Edition (we have a really small pinch left), and it is such a beautiful set. Imaginative and beautifully bubbling electronic music, it really creates such a vibe.
Between now and the end of the year, you will read a lot about Sault. Rightfully so, the mysterious collective have created three albums of quite faultless music. Their latest UNTITLED (Black Is) is finally with us and is... Well, it's just amazing actually. Funk, Soul and all sorts of driving textures and tones play to a sensitively (but urgently) delivered assessment of 2020. We have a wedge of them, but they will fly out and a restock could be slow. Do not miss out.
Also, keep an eye on our site, we'll be loading up a preorder for the forthcoming UNTITLED (Rise)... Which will be their fourth album in about 16 months!
Free Humans is the second LP from supergroup (Dawn Bothwell, Rhodri Davies, Richard Dawson and Sally Pilkington) Hen Ogledd. Such a massive triumph this one, it sounds utterly like nothing else and pulls in all sorts of weird and quite bonkers tones and sounds.

An epic return. Following 2017's Brutalism and 2018's Joy as an Act of Resistance - two releases that garnered global critical acclaim - IDLES return with their highly anticipated third album – Ultra Mono. We have our last few Deluxe and Indie shop 'vortex vinyl' editions going online now.
The Australian multi-instrumentalist four-piece Mildlife release their second LP, Automatic (their first with Heavenly). Somewhere between propulsive jazz, funk, soul and electronic music; it really has such a vibe to it, highly recommended. The LP has a locked groove too, so you can get totally lost and keep listening as you float ever higher.
With absolutely huge beats, Marie Davidson is back in collaborative form. L'Œil Nu, it is a trio formed with old-time friends with shared roots in Montreal’s DIY scene: Marie, Pierre Guerineau (also in Essaie Pas on DFA) and Asaël R. Robitaille. Renegade Breakdown is fierce, really loving this already.
ACR Loco is the first new work in 12 years from A Certain Ratio. They are in full flight, revitalised after touring and sounding absolutely full of drive. Really good stuff.

Another big return with Ohms, the ninth studio LP from the iconic Californian rock band Deftones. They sound exactly like you'd expect, exactly like you'd want.

Chaos Wonderland is the new LP as Colorama from Carwyn Ellis. He is one of the very most interesting pop writers around in utterly grooving form, really feeling this.
Bob Mould releases Blue Hearts, the catchy-but-ranging counter piece to last year's sunny and melodic Sunshine Rock LP.

By The Fire is Thurston Moore’s seventh solo album. Solo only in name really, it features My Bloody Valentine’s Deb Googe and Sonic Youth’s Steve Shelley to name just a few of the driving forces. You know we are big fans, but this really does have plenty of loud, quiet, calm and frantic. A trip.

Cenizas was written and produced by Nicolás Jaar between 2017-2019. It really is epic and free-flowing electronic music, stunningly atmospheric. We have some real nice CD/LP book editions.
Also in this massive week; Generations is the second solo LP from Arcade Fire’s Will Butler. A suitably lo-fi collection of searching and joyous songs. Cosmic 'Space-Surf' with III from Japanese Television, a band we like a great deal. Big, heavy psych with the excellent Cult Casual from Heavy Salad. Huge, cavernous, glimmering space rock with Ummon from SLIFT. Limited A Hero's Death / I Don't Belong double A single from Fontaines D.C.
Universal Beings E&F Sides is a new project by Chicago-based drummer/producer Makaya McCraven. An addendum to his critically-acclaimed 2018 release Universal Beings. Universal Beings E&F Sides presents fourteen new pieces of organic beat music cut from the original sessions.
Leeds band I Like Trains return with Kompromat, their first studio album in eight years. Indie Exclusive LP on Silver vinyl, gatefold, silver foiling... Looks real nice.
The reissues are just as epic as the new ones this week.
A pounding start with Samurai Math Beats, an essential reissue of one of the key albums from Bogdan Raczynski's Rephlex catalogue.
We have a lush anniversary edition of Elliot Smith's near perfect self-titled album. Double LP and double CD Hard Cover Photo Book editions, really really limited.
Blue Day is a rare collection of rarities from shoegazers Slowdive, pulling together a shelf's-worth of lost gems into one sweet package. The limited Indie shop version is pressed on white marbled vinyl.
After much delay, we have the double LP pressing of The Weeknd's After Hours.
The Twilight Sad reissue the long out-of-print and much-missed Andrew Weatherall ‘anti-produced’ long player No One Can Ever Know. Limited indie edition is pressed on double burgundy coloured vinyl.

Prince's epic, iconic and utterly timeless Sign O' The Times gets a super deluxe reissue this week with tons of extras and all sorts else. Right now we're giving the double LP a spin; it sounds fantastic and looks super pretty in peachy-pink!
