New, but not-new.A casual Friday walk back through the annals of time.

Hello, Friends.

The pitch on this one is easy. Young Shakespeare is some of the earliest-known live audio and footage of Neil Young... Essential stuff. Just two months after the release of his seminal After The Gold Rush, Neil Young played a solo show at The Shakespeare Theatre, Stratford, CT on January 22 1971. The show was filmed and recorded, and the concert shown on German TV later in 1971.

Neil wrote recently that the show is, “superior to our beloved 'Massey Hall'. A more calm performance, without the celebratory atmosphere of Massey Hall, captured live on 16mm. 'Young Shakespeare' is a very special event. To my fans, I say this is the best ever."

It's a lush package on CD, double LP and a deluxe box edition that includes DVD footage.

Assembly is an all-new Joe Strummer retrospective covering The Clash frontman's whole career, including Mescaleros numbers and unexpected, buried treasures. This 16-track compilation features three previously unreleased versions of classic Clash tracks, including the never-before-heard “Junco Partner (Acoustic)” and electrifying live performances of “Rudie Can’t Fail” and “I Fought The Law,” the latter two of which were recorded by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros at London’s Brixton Academy on November 24, 2001.

Kourosh Yaghmaei Back From The Brink [Reissue]

Memphis Industries release a special, tenth anniversary edition of Tokyo Police Club's Champ. Limited Edition Red Splatter Vinyl & Exclusive Bonus 7”.

The impeccable Upset The Rhythm released Serve To Serve Again last summer from Australian punks Vintage Crop. We have vinyl copies and they sound mint. Limited blue colour vinyl pressing.

World Circuit reissue Red Album, the debut 1984 record from Tuareg guitar legend Ali Farka Touré.

Speed Kills!!! We dug the Chubby and the Gang record so much when it was released last year. It's been repressed for those unlucky ones who missed out.

La Vita Olistica is a film written by and starring The Orielles. As part of last years Love Record Stores event they announced the soundtrack and today we have our last few copies available (looking badass on a purple/pink hue of vinyl). What an amazing band these lot are, eh?

The most excellent Now-Again Records today release Forge Your Own ChainsHeavy Psychedelic Ballads and Dirges 1968-1974. Some real gems in this one; American gospel, paranoiac soul, loner folk, East-Nigerian fuzz, Thai rock, Iranian ballads and more.

And lastly today - also on Now-Again - and this week's most-played by a Country mile, is Back From The Brink, a deep dive into Iranian psychedelic rocker Kourosh Yaghmaei and a set of pre-revolution works he salvaged and protected for decades. Remarkable and essential.

Enjoying digging deeper, and a reminder that you can re-read about all this week's new releases here.
