It’s your working from home, pre Christmas party, Drift new music notes...

Hello, Friends.

Record of the Week is Bauhaus, L'Appartamento, the excellent debut from Manchester-via-Italy singer, songwriter and guitarist Julia Bardo. It debuted digitally earlier back in the Autumn; but we held back playing it loads until the physical stock landed, which it has, including a very nice Red vinyl pressing. She's got such a great voice, this is a killer set of bitter-sweet pop bangers.

+ Julia has signed some art cards for us, free with all LP orders (or CD if you're collecting in person).

You Heat Me Up, You Cool Me Down is a live document of King Krule touring (mere weeks before the world went into lockdown) his acclaimed Man Alive! LP in Europe. Intense and testament to why his live shows have such a great reputation.

+ We have SIGNED 12" prints, chunky art booklets and 10" sticker sheets to give away with orders, while stocks last.

Wanderkid is the new LP from the prolific and nomadic NY singer/songwriter, JW Francis, inspired by trekking the Appalachian trail. We were delighted to release it as a Dinked Edition (No. 124) and we have just made our last few copies available, now.

+ Yellow vinyl, A6 12 page illustrated short story booklet, A5 Sticker Sheet, individually-numbered run of 400 copies.

King Krule You Heat Me Up, You Cool Me Down

Cuntry Covers Vol. 1 (sic) is the debut, six-song EP of classic country covers from Bria (multi-instrumentalists Bria Salmena and Duncan Hay Jennings). Warm vibes and Bria's vocal is very good.

+ LP is opaque Breeze Blue vinyl.

No Quarter release The Time of the Foxgloves, the first LP in an absolute yonk from the quietly iconic Michael Hurley. His voice sounds amazing, a real life-long gnarl. Love this already.

Bella Union release The Path of the CloudsMarissa Nadler’s ninth solo album. It is her first self-produced release and features harpist Mary Lattimore and the brilliantly intense Emma Ruth Rundle.

+ Indie LPs are pressed on silver and white vinyl.
+ Standard LPs are pressed on opaque white vinyl.

An Orchestrated Songbook finds Paul Weller collaborating with Jules Buckley & the BBC Symphony Orchestra. All the hits from the Weller vaults, originally broadcast by the BBC.

+ Deluxe CD includes a hardback book.
+ Heavyweight double LP in heavyweight tip-on gatefold sleeve with 8-page booklet.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse Barn

A decade in the making, Observatory is the long-awaited, solo debut from Wrens member Kevin Whelan as Aeon Station. The production is pretty mint, everything feels considered.

+ LPs are pressed on Cloudy Blue vinyl.

Mouth Congress – friends Paul Bellini and Scott Thompson of Kids In The Hall fame - who wrote and recorded hundreds of songs in the ‘80s without ever putting out a proper release. Waiting for Henry is a collection of 29 tracks over 2 LPs (noisy punk to lo-fi new wave and DIY disco) with a booklet of interviews and ephemera from one of the ‘80s last queer-core bands.

Also this week; Last Year Was Weird Vol. 3 is the final act of Zimbabwe-born, Australia-raised Tkay Maidza's EP trilogy. Common releases the second part of his A Beautiful Revolution project. Pom Pom Squad's OW EP gets a vinyl pressing via City Slang. John Carpenter and Chvrches combine for the super-limited (Blue, Pink & Clear marble swirl vinyl) Turning The Bones 7". Includes nice cover art by comic artist Jamie McKelvie (thanks, Lee).

Just-landed news includes; Soccer96' superb Dopamine on vinyl. SIGNED copies of Field Music's Flat White Moon LP (thanks!) and The Weather Station's stunning Ignorance LP repressed on Baby Blue colour vinyl.

Lastly this week, Heavenly Remixes Vol One & Two document Heavenly Recordings long and storied history with remixes. The two volumes (and CD comp) feature amazing contributions from; Underworld, Andy Votel, Mikey Young, Gabe Gurnsey, Beyond The Wizards Sleeve, Gwenno and more. The third and fourth editions (focusing on the maestro Andrew Weatherall) have just been announced for late January too.
