One of those weeks with something for everyone... As long as you like good music!

Hello, Friends.

Our Record of the Week is Mirry, the self-titled, full release of the quite remarkable album that we had the honour of releasing as a special Dinked Edition back in December. Mirry is the discovery and musical re-imagining of Mirabel Lomer; an artist’s unheard world which is emerging from the shadows into the light.

Musicians Tom Fraser and Simon Tong (The Verve, The Good the Bad and the Queen, and The Magnetic North) re-worked and re-mixed the archive compositions and the results are just magic. Powerful and spiritual music. We'll be talking more about the project this weekend as we have just published an interview with Mirabel's nephew Geoffrey in the newest issue of Deluxe.

Also released on the Dutchess label and also formerly available as a super limited Dinked Edition, Emmy Award-winning composer and pianist Michael Price delivers a stirring and intoxicating soundtrack to Craig Robert’s Eternal Beauty.

Modern Nature

One of the most highly-regarded modern Brazilian jazz trios, Caixa Cubo release their new LP Angela; the first to be licensed for European release by Heavenly Recordings. Quite dreamy fusion with changes of pace up to quite a drive, really great stuff. + Orange vinyl.

After a 7-year hiatus, funk legend Steve Arrington returns with his uplifting and soulful new album Down To The Lowest Terms: The Soul Sessions, with artists including Mndsgn, Knxwledge and Jerry Paper on production. The album portrays his diversity of influences, which sees Arrington drawing on funk, soul, jazz, electronic and R&B. WELL GOOD.

Dies Occidendum is a mythical voyage across fog-laden, scorched earth terrain from the original friar of dark hip hop, Dj Muggs the Black Goat. Known and revered as the sonic mastermind behind Cypress Hill, this is deliciously dark.

At George's Zoo is the lush, fourth LP from San Francisco's Cool Ghouls. Rich vibes and full of the city's rich psych, rock and pop heritage. + Transparent Red vinyl.

Valerie June returns with her third album - The Moon and Stars: Prescriptions For Dreamers - a next-generation fusion of folk, soul, gospel, country and transcendental blues. Really special stuff, she is such a legit star.  + VERY limited white vinyl.

Also this week: The Falling is the tenth studio LP from The Underground Youth on Fuzz Club. Pinegrove release Amperland, NY,  a whopping 21-track album that documents one last departing recording session in their beloved home. Loose Music release Topaz, the psychedelic new country banger from Israel Nash (Indie LP is pressed on Turquoise vinyl.) Pino Palladino (bass man to the stars) and Blake Mills (super ears) collaborate on Notes With Attachments, really top stuff actually. The CD is here, LP due early next month. The Art of Losing is the second album from Welsh multi-instrumentalist The Anchoress (aka Catherine Anne Davies). Our indie shop double LP comes with bonus 7".

And Other Things is an EP written and recorded beneath the sun-drenched sky of Joshua Tree, California, over the course of a month by Routine; the collaborative forces of Chastity Belt's Annie Truscott and Melina Duterte of Jay Som. Such lush vibes, really hope this is the start of something more. Our copies are pressed on limited Coke Bottle Clear vinyl.

Last new one today is a beauty. Rydalwater is a 10-minute, improvised guitar composition by Jack Cooper as Modern Nature. It was originally commissioned as an improvised piece for the Caught by the River programme for Aerial Festival back in September and now becomes the twelfth release on the excellent Rivertones label. Limited 7" single with lush artwork by Tara Okon.

Sarah Davachi

Captured Tracks issue a collection of home-recordings from
Linda Smith, one of the pioneering yet relatively unknown artists of the lofi and bedroom genres. Till Another Time 1988 -1996 is full of wonderful songs and she really did create such cosmic and spooky vibes at home.

Strut reissue Inspiration Information, a special crossover from their collaboration series, with afrobeat legend Tony Allen cooking up some beguiling rhythms with Finnish wind instrumentalist Jimi Tenor.

We have just a last few (Green Swirl vinyl) copies of Rebekka Karijord and Jon Ekstrand's I Am Greta Original Motion Picture Soundtrack.

Bar None reissue Fakebook, an early career chiller from Yo La Tengo. It's mostly cover songs (in their own inimitable style) and has such a lush vibe. They just arrived good, didn't they?!

Last one this week is a repress of Sarah Davachi's marvellous All My Circles Run. It's an essential record for ambient fans, beautifully structured tones and natural timbres. She really is marvellous and the gold vinyl pressing looks dead nooooice too!
