We're back and we have new wonders for your stereo.

Hello, Friends.

We're hyped to be back and we're dropping the needle on 2020 with an excellent set of new releases.

As we told you in the Christmas haze, our first Record of the Month this year is from the utterly brilliant Field Music with Making A New World, a 19 track song cycle about the after-effects of the First World War. Musically smart, thematically smart, the only let-down (which is entirely not their fault) being the grim reality of what they present here... A modern world thats been crippling itself incrementally for a century! Some of their finest production and super engaging.

+ Available on very limited Indie transparent red vinyl.
+ The band join us in Devon for Sea Change 2020 to perform the album exclusively in full with a full video wall backdrop.

Following last Summer's glimmering Started Out / About Work The Dancefloor 12"s and a euphoric set at Glastonbury, Georgia makes a hugely welcome return on Domino with her second studio album, Seeking Thrills. Inspired by Chicago House and Detroit Techno, Seeking Thrills is all about analogue club beats (her drumming is quite brilliant) and is full of euphoric pop and melancholic synths. Our first Record of the Week for the new year, it feels like the sort of album that is going to get played and played and played, rightfully so!

+ Available to independent retailers on red heavyweight vinyl with 16-page booklet.
+ We have posted an archive Deluxe interview with Georgia from September '15 on the Deluxe website here.

First debut album of the new year is Land of No Junction from Dublin native Aoife Nessa Frances. Pronounced "Ee-fa", her immaculate debut is released on Basin Rock, who previously blew our minds with Julie Byrne, Nadia Reid, Jim Ghedi and Johanna Samuels. Brilliantly whispery delivery that is unaffected but hugely evocative. Self-produced and arranged with Cian Nugent, it is full of understated confidence and a sort of West-Coast breeze, it has a great vibe to it. Can't rave about this one enough, got a feeling that we have heard one of this year's main protagonists in week one of 2020!

The Big Moon - Juliette Jackson, Soph Nathan, Celia Archer and Fern Ford - release their second LP Walking Like We Do this week on Fiction. It follows their Mercury Prize nominated debut album Love In The 4th Dimension and is full of big, layered vocals and smart, tightly would synth pop.

Very limited edition Orange Heavyweight vinyl in a Gatefold sleeve with A3 poster and Download card.

Erratics and Unconformities is the first album by Craven Faults (who still remain anonymous). It follows three EPs: Netherfield Works, Springhead Works and Nunroyd Works. Long-form analogue electronic journeys across decades and continents, and swathes of post-industrial northern Britain. The slow synth builds here are spectacular, the seventeen-minute Vacca Wall is worth the ticket price alone. Precise and controlled but full of analogue imperfections, right up our street.

* Due to manufacturing issues, the yellow vinyl version of this album was withdrawn prior to release.

A couple of essential Blue Note reissues to get 2020 rolling with Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers' Buhaina's Delight and drummer Pete La Roca's Basra. We've been trying to keep as many as we can in stock, the Blue Note collection is here for you:

Ending this week with an absolutely superb new book for the Drift shelves with Joe Muggs & Brian David Stevens' Bass, Mids, Tops. This lush first hardback edition is an oral history of the UK's soundsystem culture, featuring interviews with Dubmaster Dennis Bovell, Skream, Youth, Norman Jay MBE, Adrian Sherwood, Mala, and others.

Enjoy having a play through this, we'll put a playlist up in our news section later on.
