Love Record Stores

Love Record Stores

Who doesn't right? No friend of ours.

What started out as chatter online amongst record shop heads has escalated... fast! Saturday 20th June will be a full day of music and conversations about shop culture with performances, guest appearances and some really excellent and really limited products!

Record Shops are the very front line of the music industry and their influence is and always has been vast. Speaking as one, we LOVE what we do. We LOVE other shops, we LOVE being part of something bigger and we LOVE connecting with passionate people. If you have a walk around the Love Record Stores site you can view some initial details about all of the release we'll have arriving.

Nipper at Drift

There will be some very limited stock from Belle And Sebastian, Radiohead, Floating Points, Hinds, Caribou, Beach House, Alvvays, John Grant, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, Midlake, Oasis and more!

We do not plan to physically be open, so this will be all listed online and available to purchase on the day, times tbc. We can't confirm any quantities yet, but even the deepest will only be a handful of copies each, so please make your excited list in the spirit of the day. (Fun, we mean have fun and don't shout at us). We have also seen a first pass of some of the amazing artists, labels and music makers involved with the 24 hour live celebration that will be taking place on the #LRS website. Exclusive 'at home' performances, DJ sets, 'virtual drinks', Q&A's, readings and much more. Trust... it is going to be massive. Tim Burgess will be the day's ambassador and he was recently talking about shops;

“The idea of what we would do without physical record shops has been a question we’ve asked in the past, but now it’s looking more possible than ever and we need to do whatever we can to help. Record shops are like drop in therapy centres for me - there’s a calmness, a familiarity and a sense of belonging that I don’t feel in many other places. A chance to talk with like-minded people - and maybe be reminded that you didn’t know as much about music as you thought you did. Like an animal threatened with extinction - we need to organise ourselves to try and stop it happening. Record shops have been good to me since I first ever spent time on my own - they’ve been good to us, let’s do what we can to help.”

Keep in touch, we'll get some links up at some point and we'll be talking more about the releases and the big old broadcast.

We, like you, LOVE Record Stores.
