Introducing the inaugural release of "lost" sessions from 1986, where Sun Ra encountered The OVC. These remarkable recordings were, until now, confined to two tracks exclusively available on VHS videos. The recordings have undergone a meticulous process of full remastering, executed by Joe Lizzi and Peter Beckmann, directly from the original reel-to-reel tapes. This release features remarkable, previously unheard versions of Ra classics ‘Calling Planet Earth’, ‘Sunset On The Nile’ and ‘Theme From The Stargazers’ and captivating images sourced from Sun Ra and Bill Sebastia's videos. Additionally, the RSD release includes comprehensive sleeve notes and an in-depth interview with Bill Sebastian, providing valuable insights into this extraordinary moment in time.

When is this released?
Sun Ra - Inside The Light World: Sun Ra Meets The OVC is released as part of Record Store Day 2024.
It will be available physically in the shop from 9am on Saturday 20th April 2024. Any remaining stock will then be made available at 8pm on Monday 22nd April 2024.
Can I pre order a copy?
Drift, like all participating shops, are bound by the RSD code of conduct. We are unable to pre sell or reserve any RSD titles.

So, how do I get one?
Drift will be open at 9am on Saturday 20th April and you need to come and see us in person. There will be a queue and we try and make it as much fun as possible.
Any remaining stock will be made available at 8pm on Monday 22nd April and you will be able to purchase copies via this page.
