With Yowzers, Ben LaMar Gay continues to reshape the boundaries of creative music, drawing from deep wells of history, collaboration, and rhythm. Known for his expansive output — from Downtown Castles Can Never Block The Sun through to Open Arms To Open Us and Certain Reveries — Gay’s new album builds on a language shaped through constant movement and shared experience.

His working quartet is at the heart of the record, joined by guest musicians and a small choir, crafting music that folds folk traditions into dense polyrhythmic structures. The result is textured and unpredictable, echoing everything from the Liberation Music Orchestra to Bukka White, while always sounding distinctly his own.
