With Geogaddi, Boards of Canada deepened their sound, moving from the hazy innocence of Music Has the Right to Children into darker, more unsettling territory. Released in 2002, the album trades pastoral nostalgia for a creeping sense of unease, blending woozy synths, fractured beats, and eerie vocal fragments.

Tracks like “1969” and “Music Is Math” balance hypnotic rhythms with a subtle undercurrent of dread, while interludes like “Energy Warning” and “Beware the Friendly Stranger” channel Cold War anxieties and apocalyptic visions. Geogaddi remains a vital, enigmatic chapter — an album that unsettles as much as it entrances.
