On The national's third album, Matt Berninger's potent baritone still intones about matters fraught and funny and sad; about record collections, missing persons and medium-sized american hearts. But the record is not simply gothic or miserablist - more like the plays of tennessee williams, its full of peculiar intimacies and awkward grace. Alligator's heroes are reckless and possessed seducers, yet they are apologetic ones. In the national's imaginings, through songs alternately lush and spare, there is something twilit and dreamy worked out in the basement of our brains. it has the bravado of Leonard Cohen and an elegance unheard since the triffids.

When is this released?

The National - Alligator is available for Pre Order now and has a scheduled release date of 11th April 2005.

In the event of any delays to this date, we will try to keep this page updated in the '⚠ Updates' tab.

When will I get it?

We ship pre order items to arrive with you on or as close as possible to release day. We are limited naturally by when the stock arrives with us in Totnes, but we work hard to ship them in a timely fashion.

What is the discount?

Every Pre Order product has a discount of between 10% and 15%. This is already factored into the price and will revert to full RRP during the week of release.
