Week 27. We have turned on the desk fan... this is not a drill. 🔥

Hello, Friends.

Record of the Week is the hugely exciting third LP from Trash KitHorizon, via Upset The Rhythm, is totally indebted to a world of it's influences, but the thrilling bit here is the way in which it whips them all up to a galloping set of songs that sound not much like anyone else. Post punk shapes, cascading African guitar licks and a lot of grooves. The three piece (who also play in Bas Jan, Sacred Paws and Shopping) have made an album that's a celebration of their interests, and it's euphoric and brilliant fun.

+ Limited 180 gram yellow Vinyl in Reverse Board Sleeve with booklet featuring Lyrics and Drawings.

+ We also have a few limited copies of their Confidence album repressed on white vinyl.

Fongola is the thrilling debut from the Kinshasa collective KOKOKO! Working with French producer Débruit, it's an album of urgent and addictive songs that unfold out of micro primitive percussions.

The Soft Cavalry are duo Steve Clarke and his wife Rachel Goswell from Slowdive. Their self-titled debut is out this week on Bella Union and is a brilliantly written and delivered set. The harmonies are lush and they have a real natural ability to give each other space, everything sounds like it is in its right place.

+ Double LP pressed on blue and yellow vinyl.

Jesca Hoop

Double release day tomorrow for TWO Dinked Editions. Edition No.15 from Jesca Hoop and Edition No.16 from BABii

Jesca Hoop's STONECHILD is a massive step forward, ironically with a subtle step backwards. It's more subtle than her earlier work, quite stripped-back and working with John Parish she has really captured some magic. Hell of an album this. Our Dinked Edition is in a custom mirror board sleeve, with a signed 12 x 12 lyrical scrawl art print, by Jesca. It's pressed on white and black 180g marble coloured vinyl and also includes an exclusive flexidisc featuring non-album song 'Waking Andreas'.

BABii

HiiDE is the debut album by electronic producer BABii, co-produced by Adrian Sherwood (On-U-Sound system). Not pop, not RnB, somewhere between the two with layers of synths that are equally sugary sweet and industrially gnarly. The Dinked Edition is an individually numbered edition of 450 on 180g clear vinyl with white splatter. Exclusive Dinked Edition sleeve on Holographic card with white typography and debossed illustration.

We kept a few back of each and have just put them on the racks... now!

Andrea Belfi returns on FLOAT with his new LP Strata. We went utterly mad for his debut Ore, and this new mini LP release has thrills from the start. Skittering beats and bleeps that are too hard to differentiate... man and machine. Love it.

A great little set of limited releases this week;

Aïsha Devi returns on Houndstooth with S.L.F. Cut to neon orange vinyl.

You may have seen online, Bonobo dropped a super limited one Sided 12" for new cut, Linked. A slow builder, it's got some pretty dance floor-ready moves going on.

The most excellent BEAK> return with a new four track EP called Life Goes On. Got us thrilled about this months Port Eliot appearance.

Lastly, we have a VERY limited white label 12" from The Rhythm Method on Moshi Moshi with How Would You Know I Was Lonely? Buy a copy now, due with us after the weekend.

The Fan

The Rolling Stones Rock And Roll Circus gets a really nice release this week. Directed by Let It Be‘s Michael Lindsay-Hogg, the performance was recorded in front of a live audience in London in 1968 and was originally conceived as a BBC-TV special. Some amazing performances, some remarkable guests and some brilliantly weird moments. Released here for the first time on vinyl as a 3LP edition, there is also a 2CD release and a really lovely Deluxe 2CD/DVD/Blu-Ray editions with lots of nice bits.

Sigur Rós' breakthrough Ágætis Byrjun - A Good Beginning turns twenty this year, and Krunk have released a 20th anniversary edition. The double vinyl sounds really full and clean, but the 4CD edition has treasures after treasures with demos, alternatives and live takes that really celebrate this beautiful album. I distinctly remember John Peel playing Svefn-g-englar in full between two particularly gnarly jungle 12"s... what a magical way to have first heard the band.

Looking over we notice that today is July 4th. This day, nine years ago, we launched the first Drift website to huge fanfare... we all remember packing the one order that week like it was just yesterday. Thanks for bearing with us over the years, it's really cool to speak to you all so often and do we so love packing up all these amazing albums and shipping them to you all over the world.

- Love, Drift
